For those Palms showing symptoms of Manganese, Magnesium or Potassium deficiencies, we suggest using one of the Palms NW Spikes that have been specifically formulated to treat these deficiencies. Treatments may be made any time these deficiencies are observed.
Manganese Deficiency:
Symptoms: Afftects the new emerging leaves, causing yellowing and necrosis between the veins and a reduction in leaf size. As deficiency becomes severe, the new leaves wither and have a "frizzled" look. If not promptly treated, deficiency can be fatal to the palm.
Treatment: Use Manganese Spikes, number of spikes needed depends on trunk height and severity of deficiency. See chart for how many are needed.
Spray the crown with anti-bacterial spray like Copper Sulfide spray once a month. Ten squirts is about right.
Normal response is from 1 to 3 months.
Apply Manganese Spikes any time the deficiency is observed.
Potassium Deficiency:
Symptoms: Orange or brown flecks on older leaves. If the deficiency is severe enough, new shoots will eventually be affected. If untreated, the palm may die. Curing the postassium deficiency will lead to mangnesium deficiency. Because of this, you must use both Potassium Spikes and Magnesium Spikes.
Treatment: Use Potassium Spikes and Magnesium Spikes, number of spikes needed depends on trunk height and severity of deficiency. See chart for how many are needed.
Complete recovery can take a year or longer.
Apply Spikes any time the deficiency is observed.
Magnesium Deficiency:
Symptoms: Affects the older leaves, causing them to yellow at the edges while the center band stays green. In severe cases, leaflet tips also become necrotic. Magnesium deficiency can affect most species of palms.
Treatment: Use Magnesium Spikes, number of spikes needed depends on trunk height and severity of deficiency. See chart for how many are needed.
Recovery can take several months.
Apply Magnesium Spikes any time the deficiency is observed.
